The relations between Vietnam and Russia have stood the test of
time and created a firm foundation for the two countries to boost
cooperation in many fields of common interests, a Russian diplomat has
said.
The assertion was made by Russia’s Consul
General in Ho Chi Minh City Anatoli Vasilievich Borovik at a press
conference on February 19 on the occasion of the 63th anniversary of
diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Russia (1950-2013) and Russian
Diplomats Day.
Borovik said that in 2012 the
bilateral relationship was raised to a new high level thanks to the
exchange of visits by the two sides’ senior leaders as well as
enterprises in order to seek cooperation and investment opportunities in
each country.
The Consul General affirmed that
Russia will continue to assist Vietnam in implementing the
construction of a nuclear power plant in central Ninh Thuan province. He
stressed that Russia will provide the plant with the latest and
modern technology to ensure its safety.
Last year,
two-way trade between Vietnam and Russia reached 3.5 billion USD,
up 40 percent from the 2011’s level. The two countries are aiming to
double the figure this year.-VNA
