Prosecutors from Vietnamese and Lao border provinces gathered at the
third meeting of the people’s procuracy sector in the central province
of Thua Thien-Hue on June 28 to boost ties in combating transnational
crime, especially drug trafficking.
The event saw the
presence of the top prosecutors from the two countries’ supreme people’s
procuracies, central military procuracies and border guard force
procuracies among others.
Addressing the opening
ceremony, Deputy Prosecutor General Tran Cong Phan said this year’s
meeting aims to evaluate recent cooperation in combating crimes and
propose measures to uphold the ties in the coming time, particularly
those related to transnational and drug crimes.
The
event is among numerous practical and meaningful cooperation activities
between the two procuracy institutions, illustrating their determination
to maintain and develop the traditional friendship and comprehensive
partnership between the two countries.
It also plays
an important role in actively maintaining public security in the region
and the world, building a borderline of peace, friendship and
cooperation, as well as serving the socio-economic development goals of
the two countries.
