Vietnam treasures cooperative ties with Wallonia-Brussels as part
of its relationship with Belgium, said Deputy Minister of Foreign
Affairs Ho Xuan Son.
The Vietnamese diplomat made
the statement when he received the Governor of the Wallonia region and
French-speaking community of Belgium, Rudy Demotte, who is in
Vietnam from April 8-13.
The visit is on the
occasion of Vietnam and Belgium’s 40th anniversary of diplomatic
ties, Son said, adding that he highly appreciates the Wallonia
authority’s decision to prioritise its relations with Vietnam.
For his part, the Belgian official expressed his impression of
Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, and spoke highly of their
bilateral cooperation in the framework of the Francophone organisation.
The two sides praised the developing relationship
between them thanks to regular delegation exchanges and the positive
outcome of 2010-2012 joint projects.
They agreed to
expand cooperation in economics, transport, aeronautics and s
pace , science and technology, as well as to bolster links between
localities in Vietnam and Wallonia in economic development and
land management.
The Belgian governor is due to
take part in working sessions with Vietnam’s relevant ministries and
sectors, and visit Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City over the following
