VietNamNet Bridge – Storm Rumbia rumbled in north of China’s Leizhou Peninsula this morning, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
By 7am today, the eye of the storm was 230km east of Quang Ninh Province’s Mong Cai City in the northerneastern region of Viet Nam, with wind speeds of up to 62-88km per hour.
The storm, the third of this year to hit the East Sea, will move at 20-25 km per hour in a north by northwest direction and become a tropical low after entering southeast of China’s Guangxi Province by midnight.
It will cause rough seas, strong winds and heavy rains with thunderstorms expected in the northern part of Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf.
The centre warned people living in northern provinces to prepare for heavy showers, thunderstorms, flash floods and landslides.
