Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his entourage on March 12 arrived in
Vientiane , Laos , to attend summits slated for March 12-15 to
foster regional cooperation.
During his stay in
Laos at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong,
Dung will attend the 6 th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Summit (CLMV
6), the 5 th Ayeyawadi-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy
Summit (ACMECS 5), and the talks between ACMEC leaders and business
representatives.

After his
arrival, Dung held talks with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen, during
which the leaders discussed ways to boost the two countries’ cooperation
in various areas.
Both sides noted with joy the
fruitful development in the friendship and comprehensive cooperation
between the two countries over the past time, especially in economics,
trade, investment and tourism.
To date, Vietnam
has 116 investment projects in Cambodia , focusing on
telecommunications, electricity, mining, agriculture, and rubber
planting and processing.
Last year, the two
countries enjoyed a bilateral trade turnover of 3.3 billion USD,
representing a year-on-year of 18 percent.
The two
PMs spoke highly of the joint successful organisation of activities
marking the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012 and the 45 th
anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties.
These
activities have helped raise public awareness, especially among young
generations, of the traditional friendship, cooperation and mutual
support between the two fraternal peoples, they noted.
They compared notes on a number of cooperation areas and ways to enhance the bilateral ties in the coming time.
On this occasion, Dung invited Hun Sen to visit Vietnam at a convenient time this year.-VNA
