President Truong Tan Sang hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 16
for Chairman of Japan’s Kansai Economic Federation (Kankeiren) Shosuke
Mori, who is on a working visit to Vietnam to strengthen cooperation
between the two sides.

support of businesses from Kansai region and Japan in general for
Vietnam , and affirmed that Japan is an important strategic
partnership in Vietnam ’s foreign policy.
He
highly valued the close economic relations between the Kansai region and
Vietnam ’s ministries, sectors and localities.
“With the economic strength of Kansai region, and the active efforts by
both sides, our two countries’ trade turnover will not stop at the
current level,” he said, adding that he hopes Kankeiren will propose new
fields for bilateral cooperation on the basis of the traditional mutual
trust and advantages such as a large number of Vietnamese students in
Kansai and a direct air route between Vietnam and Kansai.
The Kankeiren chairman said his visit aims to create a new
breakthrough in bilateral trade cooperation to celebrate the 40 th
anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
He said thanks to the facilitation and assistance provided by the
Vietnamese Party and State, as well as efforts made by diplomatic
agencies, investment from Kansai businesses now accounts for 20 percent
of Japan ’s total investment in Vietnam.
Mori suggested the two sides increase cooperation in human resources training and environmental protection.
Kankeiren will work closely with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and
Investment and Ministry of Industry and Trade to provide necessary
information for the two countries’ businesses, he said.-VNA
