A ceremony to celebrate the 68 th anniversary of August Revolution and
National Day of Vietnam took place in Beijing , China on August 30.
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh was joined at the
event by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Laos Thongloun
Sisoulith and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Addressing the
event, Foreign Minister Minh said over the past 68 years, generations
of Vietnamese people have built and developed the nation, striving to
befriend countries worldwide and become an active, proactive and
responsible member of the international community.
He said he
shared FM Wang Yi’s view that China and the Association of Southeast
Asian Nations (ASEAN) have common interests in building a peaceful and
stable environment as well as a prosperous region. He expressed the
belief that China and ASEAN will reach this goal on the basis of
mutual respect for each other’s interest, equality and mutually
benefits.
The stable and effective development of
Vietnam-China cooperation will give a boost to the ASE AN-China
strategic partnership, Minh said.
In his own speech, the
Chinese Foreign Minister said he believes the China-Vietnam relationship
will see far-reaching, practical and important developments, given the
State visit by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang last June and the
forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Nanning for the
10 th China-ASEAN Trade Expo, during which he is scheduled to meet with
the Chinese Premier in preparation for an official friendship visit by
Chinese senior leaders to Vietnam in the near future.
Earlier,
FM Minh hosted a reception for Lao Deputy Pime Minister and Foreign
Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, and the Chinese FM.
The same
day, banquets took place in Laos , Russia , India , and
Argentina to celebrate Vietnam ’s National Day.
The
ceremony at the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane was attended by Lao
Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavath and many senior officials of
the Lao Party and Government.
Speaking at the event,
Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung said the Vietnam-Laos
special friendship and solidarity founded and fostered by the two
peoples have given an impetus to their sustainable cooperation in almost
fields.
In Russia, Russian State Secretary and Deputy Foreign
Minister Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee
on Foreign Affairs Alexei Pushkov, President of the Russia-Vietnam
Friendship Association Vladimir Buianov came to the celebration at the
Vietnamese Embassy to extend their greetings.-VNA
