Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia, deputy head of the General Department of
Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army, received a delegation from
India’s National Cadet Corp (NCC), led by Colonel Biju Thomas, in Hanoi
on September 30.
Nghia stressed that Vietnam and India share a
number of cultural similarities and bilateral relationship, built and
nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Nehru, is
flourishing.
Vietnam is grateful to India for its support, both materially and spiritually during the resistance wars, he said.
He appreciated the results of a meeting between the NCC and the
Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, saying that
this was a good opportunity for the delegation and Vietnamese army
schools to learn from each other and share their experience in cadet
training.
For his part, Colonel Biju Thomas expressed his
admiration for the Vietnamese army and people’s courage during their
struggles for national independence in the past as well as their current
renewal achievements.-VNA
