Many localities in the northern region of Vietnam, including Hanoi, are experiencing heavy rains which are forecast to last for the next three days.

Heavy rains forecasted to hit the northern region until August 31

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, as of midnight of August 28, many northern localities have seen moderate or heavy rains along with thunderstorms. The average rainfall is measured at around 80-150 mm.  

Quang Ninh Province and some mountainous provinces of Lang Son, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau and Yen Bai reported the high rainfall of 150-200 mm and even 250mm.

Localities from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai provinces are also forecasted to face rain from August 28 evening to the midnight of August 30.

Hanoi is predicted to have moderate rains on August 29-30, while it will face downpours on August 31.

The Gulf of Tokin may see downpours with strong thunderstorms between on August 28-31.
