VietNamNet Bridge – In 2013, the financial campaigning board of the Fund for HIV/AIDS Patients of Hanoi will call for 10-20 individuals, international organizations, 500-700 enterprises and philanthropists to support HIV carriers in the city.
In 2012, community mobilization for HIV/AIDS prevention in Hanoi obtained encouraging results, according to the financial campaigning board of the Fund for HIV/AIDS Patients of Hanoi.
The board raised AU$ 67,000 fromthe Australia Agency for International Development. The board also actively cooperated with the People’s Committee of 23 districts and towns to organize meetings to reduce discrimination against HIV carriers, to increase support for people living with HIV/AIDS and to raise funds of over VND758 million ($30,000).
In addition, more than 600 organizations and individuals donated nearly VND444 million to the board. Along with fundraising, the board visited and offered gifts to HIV/AIDS on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Children’s Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, etc.
In 2013, the board will focus on fund raising activities, mobilizing assistance from domestic and international organizations, government bodies, individuals and enterprises. It will also strengthen coordination with departments, district People’s Committees to facilitate support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
The board will also organize the month of communication on HIV/AIDS prevention in 2013. It aims to bring knowledge about HIV/AIDS to 40 percent of people in Hanoi; help improve social knowledge for 500 – 1,000 HIV/AIDS patients and improve caring skills for 500 – 1000 family members of HIV patients, provide medical care for 350-400 HIV carriers who are being treated in hospitals, maintain and improve the quality of clubs and groups of HIV carriers in Hanoi.
