HCM City, second explosion, police warehouse
Small explosion occurrs at the police warehouse.

The blast occurred on February 27 at the police’s scientific and technical support department in District No.1, damaging three rooms on the second floor.

Colonel Le Anh Tuan, Chief of the HCM City Police said it was a spontaneous explosion and that it originated from the storage room where they kept the confiscated explosives from a previous blast on February 24.

Tuan said that there were minimal damages and no casualties.

The explosion on February 24 destroyed three houses, killed eleven people and originated at the house of Le Minh Phuong, a pyrotechnics expert who worked on movie sets.

Phuong is alleged to have improperly stored explosives and ammunition in his home. After the incident there were reports from neighbours that Phuong had a second house in which he stored explosives. Police soon found his second cache.

According to many actors and Phuong’s acquaintances, Phuong would normally buy his chemicals and explosives over the internet or from unknown origins. He would store them in his house for later use on movie sets, reported ANTD Newspaper.
