VietNamNet Bridge – The three-hectare factory of the Ha Phong Garment Company in the northern province of Bac Giang was burned completely, with nearly 1,500 motorcycles and a lot of assets turned into ashes.
The fire occurred at 1 am on April 7 and it was controlled at about 6 am, with the participation of over 20 fire trucks and hundreds of anti-fire police officers.
Experts from the Institute of Criminal Sciences were also present at the scene to clarify the cause of the fire.
According to initial statistics, approximately three hectares of workshop, a lot of machinery and equipment and nearly 1,500 motorbikes of workers were burnt down. The damage is estimated at several hundreds of billion dong (millions of US dollars) but there is no loss of life.
At the time the fire occurred, more than 2,000 workers were working at the factory but all of them escaped from the fire. However, a few people have been taken to the hospital for asphyxiation.
According to Bac Giang police, this has been the largest-ever fire in the province.
Although the authorities have not announced the cause, according to workers, the fire started from the garment finishing workshop, where some welders were working.
