VietNamNet Bridge – Authorities in Phan Thiet Town in the central province of Binh Thuan said they will impose a very harsh penalty on the Cat Vang (Golden Sand) Restaurant here, for refusing to serve Vietnamese holidaymakers.

A group of holidaymakers from Ho Chi Minh City arrived at the restaurant during the Tet Festival but the restaurant refused to serve them because they were Vietnamese.

Dinh Thi Van Hai, from 490/E Dien Bien Phu Street in Binh Thanh District, said Golden Sand Restaurant on 81 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street in Phan Thiet Town did not serve her family who had gone there during their vacation to Phan Thiet on Lunar January 11.

After receiving this feedback, Ngo Minh Chinh, director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Binh Thuan Province, along with staff and police approached the restaurant owner, Nghiem Phuc, for refusing to serve Vietnamese people for the last two years.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism promised a harsh penalty on the restaurant, so as to prevent similar acts of discrimination from taking place.
