VietNamNet Bridge – On November 8, Mrs. Tran Thi Kim Tay in Phu Hiep Hamlet, An Phu Commune, Tinh Bien District of the southern province of An Giang, delivered an little boy without limbs by caesarean, at a hospital in Chau Doc town, An Giang.
The boy is 2.5 kg and healthy but he does not have limbs.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ray, Tay’s mother-in-law, said that her son named Ton, married with Tay three years ago. Tay miscarried the first time after falling. The family was very happy when Tay was pregnant the second time, but the baby does not have limbs.
Ray said that she was afraid that Tay would be shocked if she seen her first child without limbs, so Ray brought the baby home while Tay was still in the hospital after the Cesarean.
The young mother said she visited a private clinic in Tinh Bien at the 5th month but the doctor did not discover any abnormal sign. She returned to the clinic in the 8th month and doctor told her that the baby was deformed, without limbs. The doctor asked Tay to go to a big hospital for re-examination. Again, doctors told Tay about the deformed child and advised her to make abortion. However, the mother did not agree.
Until now, Tay has not yet seen the baby. She said she did not give him a name because her husband did not return home yet.
When the boy was brought home, many curious people came to see him. At the same time, the family was seeking VND4 million ($200) to pay hospital fees for Tay.
“We only hope that our child will be healthy. We will do our best to compensate for his loss, especially helping him have a strong will,” Tay said.
Tay and her husband earn their living by catching fish in nearby rivers.
