An international workshop on solid waste management and treatment was
held on March 11 by the Can Tho City People’s Committee in coordination
with the AKIA project ( Germany ) in Vietnam.

Measures to manage and deal with waste were discussed among management
agencies and businesses in the region and experts from Vietnam and
Germany.

Burying the waste was supported by the
guest experts, who said the measure is suitable for the region as it is
low cost, helps reduce air pollution and is easy to implement.

Global advanced technologies to treat solid waste were also presented to the gathering.

Annually, Mekong Delta provinces and cities produce more than 600,000
tonnes of household waste, and 47 million cubic metres of industrial
solid waste.-VNA
