The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) on October 11
held a conference to deploy Government Resolution No. 35 on a number of
urgent environmental issues.

According to
experts, Vietnam’s environmental pollution will increase threefold
in the next 10 years, and four to five times by 2025 if environmental
protection tasks do not receive proper attention.

Besides economic loss, environmental pollution also negatively and directly impacts on human health.

MoNRE Deputy Minister Bui Cach Tuyen said the environment is
considered one of the three pillars of the country’s sustainable
development, besides the economy and society.

Resolution No. 35 adopted in March this year identifies six urgent
issues in Vietnam’s environmental protection including the development
of industrial parks and clusters out of line with environmental
infrastructure and mineral exploitation that is not under strict
management.

It also includes issues in solid waste
and medical waste, household and industrial wastewater, as well as
exhaust fumes and dust.

Additionally, degenerated biodiversity is another hot environmental issues.

The resolution identifies numerous tasks and solutions for the ministers, agencies and local authorities to follow.-VNA
