Construction began on February 25 for the office building of the
Laos-Viet Joint Venture Bank (LVB)’s branch in Laos’ southern Attapeu
town.
The ground-breaking ceremony, organised by the
Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), which partnered
in the LVB, saw the presence of Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad
Lengsavath and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, among
others.
According to BIDV Deputy General Director Tran
Luc Lang, the Attapeu branch, the third branch of LVB in Laos,
officially operated on November 22, 2011.
Covering a total area
of more than 3,000sq.m, the future five-storey building will be
equipped with modern facilities to facilitate services of Attapeu
branch, which was one of the six LVB branches making good performances
in the past years.
Attapeu Governor Khamphan
Phommathath spoke highly of the operation of the LVB in general and its
Attapeu branch in particular.
He expressed his hope that the
building will be inaugurated on schedule to meet the increasing demand
for transactions by local people as well as businesses investing in
southern Laos.-VNA
