VN elected to global radio board
HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam has been elected to the Radio Regulations Board (RRB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), according to the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.
This is the first time the country has been elected to the RRB, an important ITU agency that is responsible for providing guidance and resolving issues on the use of spectrum/satellite orbits and enforcement of radio regulations.
Doan Quang Hoan, director of the Authority of Radio Frequency Management, was chosen to represent Viet Nam from 2015 to 2018.
The RRB election was held during the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference which took place in Busan, South Korea, from October 20 to November 10. Representatives of ITU member countries conducted secret balloting to select 12 RRB member candidates from five regions.
With headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, ITU is the United Nations specialised agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs), with a membership of 193 countries.
