Attracting 7 – 7.5 million international tourists and serving 36 – 37
million domestic ones by 2015 are among targets set out in the latest
national action programme on tourism.
Under the programme approved recently by the Prime Minister, the sector hopes to earn 10 – 11 billion USD from the service.
It also sets a target of receiving 10 – 10.5 million foreign visitors
and 47 – 48 million domestic travellers by 2020, bringing in 18 – 19
billion USD.
In order to achieve the above goals, the
programme plans to improve the quality of 30 percent of tourist products
at tourist areas and sites nationwide by 2015 and the figure will be 70
percent by 2020.
The government will take measures to
support the development of tourist products, especially those products
based on the country’s strength such as sea and islands, culture, and
ecology. Enhancing quality of human resources involved in the sector is
also a priority of the government’s policy.
As part of the action programme, tourist promotion activities will be strengthened both domestically and abroad. -VNA
