Shares rise but investors remain cautious
HA NOI (VNS)- Shares climbed on both national stock exchanges this morning but investors appeared cautious and trading was sluggish.
The Vn-Index on the HCM City Stock rose 0.67 per cent to stand at 473.82 on a turnover of just VND540.6 billion (US$25.7 million).
Blue chips led the market rise with most of the top 30 shares on the bourse posting gains, driving the VN30 up 1.12 per cent to 546.08 points.
Meanwhile, insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Vietcombank (VCB) and Eximbank (EIB) bucked the trend, sliding from 0.6-2.9 per cent.
Tan Tao Industry Investment (ITA), with more than 2.4 million shares changing hands, is temporarily leading the market in terms of trade this morning. ITA is being traded at VND7,400 a share, up 4.23 per cent from its closing price yesterday.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.95 per cent to finish this morning at 61.58 points on a trading value of VND266 billion ($12.7 million).
Advancers were narrowly higher than decliners at 95-47 but 255 codes closed flat.
Sai Gon-Ha Noi Ban (SHB) was the most active code this morning on the trade of 5.57 million shares, rising 2.9 per cent to VND7,100 a share.
