Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the Mekong-Japan Economic
Cooperation Committee to help bring more Japanese investment to the
Mekong Delta.
The PM made the appeal during his
meeting in Hanoi on October 30 with Watanabe Kohei, President of the
Mekong-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee, who is leading a
delegation from the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) on a
working visit to Vietnam.
Japan remains
Vietnam’s biggest investor and ODA donor, he said, stressing that the
cooperation between the two countries has seen strong development over
the recent years. He affirmed that Japanese ODA has positively
contributed to Vietnam’s national socio-economic development.
PM Dung said, however, that there is still room for the two sides to
expand their cooperation in economics, trade and investment.
He expressed his desire that the JCCI will continue to work to promote
the multilateral ties between the two countries.
For his part, Watanabe Kohei said the delegation visits Vietnam
this time to attend dialogues with the Ministry of Planning and
Investment and some relevant agencies on how to further the economic,
trade and investment ties between the two countries.
He said many businesses accompany him in this trip in order to find
chances to invest in Vietnam, especially in support industry, high-tech,
information technology, energy, agriculture and environment.-VNA
