Vietnam and Peru have recently held an expert-level meeting in
Hanoi, aiming at promoting bilateral relations in trade and
intellectual property, among others.
The meeting
was agreed upon by the two sides at the third session of the political
consultation taking place last month in Lima.
In
the context of the sound development between the two countries in
recent years, Peru announced in March that it will open an embassy in
Vietnam to enhance its ‘strategic presence’ in Asia-Pacific as well as
to continue expanding politics-diplomacy, and trade ties with Southeast
Asia.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in
1994, two-way trade between Vietnam and Peru hit 180 million USD
in 2012, tripling the figure five years ago.
