A seminar on Japanese and other Asian economies was held in Hanoi
on March 12 to help Vietnamese researchers and businesspeople explore
experiences in economic development.

Knowledge
gained from Asian countries will contribute to forming Vietnam’s polices
and strategies on economic development, said Dr. Vo Dai Luoc, General
Director of the Vietnam Asia-Pacific Economic Centre (VAPEC), which
organised the event.

Professors Harada Yutaka and
Tran Van Tho from Japan’s Waseda University presented their
scientific reports on Japan’s future economy and the country’s
impacts on other Asian nations in the field of economics, as well as
science and technology.

Vietnam should grasp new
opportunities from Japan and improve the competitiveness of its
industries before free trade agreements are fully implemented, said Tho.

The country should take into account FDI policies
as well as improving infrastructure and administrative reform procedures
in other Asian countries, added the professor.-VNA
