Wrecked ship bailed out to find artefacts
QUANG NGAI (VNS)– Researchers will recover relics from a wrecked ship in Binh Chau Commune’s territorial water in the central province of Quang Ngai.
But instead of employing divers, a bank would be built around the ship and the water pumped out, said Doan Sung, supervisor from Doan Anh Duong Company, which is responsible for the recovery,
The project will cost about VND40 billion (nearly US$2 million).
Any relics found will be stored and displayed at Quang Ngai Provincial Museum with the 62,000 artefacts already recovered from wrecked ships throughout the province, mostly dating from the 15th-17th century. – VNS
