HA NOI (VNS) — A bamboo complex in the northern Vinh Phuc Province has won “The Building of the Year” award at the ARCASIA (Architects Regional Council Asia) Awards for Architecture in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In addition, the complex, consisting of a conference hall and a restaurant, also received the golden medal in the category of Public Amenity: Resort Building.
Designed by the renowned HCM City-based architect Vo Trong Nghia, the complex was the only architectural work in Viet Nam to win at the last year’s International Architecture Awards — a prestigious awards initiated in 2005 by Chicago Museum of Architecture and Design to honour the most outstanding architecture which has been designed and built worldwide.
While the conference hall has been designed in a very unique architectural style of a Vietnamese cottage, the restaurant, named Bamboo Wing, resembles a bird’s wing. The use of bamboo is aimed at promoting the use of environmentally friendly materials.
