Two opera houses salute top violinist

HA NOI (VNS)— Violin virtuoso Maxim Fedetov will lead Russian and Vietnamese musicians in two classical concerts in Ha Noi and HCM City.
Fedetov will perform renowned pieces including Spring and Summer from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Black Swan by Tchaikovsky, and other masterpieces by Bach and Piazzolla.
Fedetov was named People’s Artist of Russia in 2002 and has been quoted as being a ‘brilliant musician and a perfect master’ by the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper.
Born in 1961 into the family with the famous conductor of St Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre, Fedetov was first educated in the Special Music School in St Petersburg and at the Moscow Conservatory.
He has performed in many renowned concert halls with orchestras from Europe and Japan, and has to his name over 50 solo performances. In 1981, he won the All-Union Violin Competition and won the N Paganini International Competition the following year. Then in 1984 and 1986, he respectively won the G Viotti International Chamber Ensemble Competition and the Special Prize in the 3rd International Violin Competition.
The violinist and conductor will be accompanied by Vietnamese musicians from the Ha Noi Ensemble. Only guests with invitations will be accepted at the concert. It will start at 8pm tonight at the HCM City’s Hoa Binh Theatre and the Ha Noi Opera House on Saturday and Sunday. — VNS
