Fireworks to light up the Han River

DA NANG (VNS)– A 28,000-seat stage has been set up along the Han River bank on Tran Hung Dao street, the central road of the city, in preparation for the sixth Da Nang International Fireworks Competition.
The competition, entitled Love of the Han River, will see teams Fireworks centre Khan of Russia, Melrose Pyrotechnics of the US, who will debut at their performances at the sixth edition, along with Tamaya Kitahara and hosts Da Nang-Viet Nam.
Director of the city’s Culture, Sports and Tourism department Ngo Quang Vinh reported at aa meeting yesterday that the installation of the stage would be completed by April 26.
“We begun installing the stage from March 20 and we need around one month to complete it. We plan to provide 36,000 tickets with prices ranging between VND250,000 and VND400,000 for two nights of the competition on April 29-30,” Vinh said.
“The city has reserved 1,250 rooms at 350 hotels, which excludes Hotels in Hoi An of Quang Nam Province and Lang Co town in Hue City, to serve tourists during the fireworks competition.”
Vinh also said city has called for VND22 billion (US$1.1 million) in sponsorship.
The event organising committee will host street music performances, cuisine festival and display national relics to promote the competition.
The competition’s jury will include Vietnamese artists, musicians and foreign diplomats.
Last year, the Parente fireworks team from Italy won the competition – the second time in a row – with their colourful performance entitled the Rainbow of Da Nang. – VNS
