HÀ NỘI — The Hanoi National University will start a project to publish dozens of Eastern classical literature works over the next 10 years.

According to Prof Nguyễn Kim Sơn, director of the university, dozens of printed and digital books on ancient religions in the East including Buddhist Confucianism and Taoist teachings will be published.

The project is part of five special national science and technology programmes and will be co-implemented by the university and Trần Nhân Tông Institute.

Addressing the workshop held in Hà Nội on April 20, Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam highly appreciated the content of the religious collections.

“Buddhist, Confucianist and Taoist teachings are a priceless resource, which were imported from overseas to Việt Nam, becoming part of the nation’s soul,” he said.

“Translating and publishing the classical works will provide great values for us today and in the future,” he said.

The project will not use the State budget but donations from Vietnamese scientists, the community and foreigners. — VNS
