HCM CITY(VNS) — The 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) has concluded with an awards show attended by 400 young filmmakers and film industry professionals.
More than 50 films competed for recognition from a distinguished panel of directors: Phillip Noyce, Nguyen Vinh Son, Nguyen Quang Dung and Charlie Nguyen. Each team had 48 hours to make a short film that included a doctor character, a lottery ticket and the line “Why does it always happen that way?”
The 49/51 Cinema team took the award for best film with the appropriately titled movie The Winning Lottery. The team also won prizes for Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. The film Dr Long by Look Group scored second place as well as other awards for Cinematography, Sound Design and Art Direction.
This is the last year the event takes place. But Ross Stewart, who organised the project, plans to produce other creative filmmaking events this year that continue to incorporate educational aspects. — VNS
