HA TINH (VNS)– The Viet Nam Photographic Artists Association has criticised Ngo Sy Ngo, head of the Thanh Sen photography club in central Ha Tinh province, for copyright violation after he failed to correctly credit the pictures featured in a photo book that he published.

The association’s deputy chairman, Pham Van Ty, confirmed that members had roundly condemned Ngo at a meeting on Monday.

Ngo published the book, titled Ha Tinh Que Huong Toi (Ha Tinh, My Homeland), earlier this year. More than 100 of the 250 photos printed in the book were published without the name and the consent of their 16 other authors, the association alleges.

The book, which has been widely sold in the country, uses photos taken by Ngo and many different authors, but only Ngo’s name appears on the cover.

Previously, he published a book containing 180 photos taken by 21 authors from the Thanh Sen photo club. However, they also received no credit and many of them sued him for violating copyright.

Ngo has admitted his fault and promised to pay royalties to the authors whose photos were published in the second book. VNS
