Story of when Uncle Ho went to the Kremlin and other visits
HA NOI (VNS)– A book on late President Ho Chi Minh by author Vu Ky (1921-2005) was published in Russian on Sunday to mark the 90th anniversary of President Ho’s first visit to Russia in June 1923.
Titled Khi Nguoi Viet Nam Dau Tien Vao Kremlin (When the First Vietnamese Entered the Kremlin), the book was first published in Vietnamese in 1987 and has been reprinted several times.
Ky worked as the president’s secretary for many years and when the president passed away, he became director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum. He reflects to readers the memories and stories he has of when he accompanied the president on visits to Russia from 1955.
Following an initiative by the Chairman of the Russia-Viet Nam Friendship Association, Evghenhy Pavlovic Glazunov, the book was translated into Russian to enable Russia’s younger generation to learn more about President Ho and the long-standing friendship between both countries.
Glazunov said he had decided to translate the book because it had been an honour for him to work as the president’s translator many times in both Viet Nam and Russia. He translated the book with gratitude and respect for President Ho and tried to express the friendship that lay between the president and the Russian people. – VNS
