VietNamNet Bridge – The Korean Association in HCMC is hosting a traditional music concert ‘Into the time’ with the main highlight the performance of Ensemble SINAWI at HCMC Conservatory of Music at 7 p.m. on June 13.

The event, as part of Korea Festival in ASEAN in joint auspices with The Korea Foundation, is aimed to give Vietnamese audiences a chance to learn about Korean tradition and to promote mutual understanding between the nations.
The South Korean troupe will perform with Vietnamese artists of Bong Sen Traditional of Music and Dance Theater to bolster cultural exchanges between the countries.
This concert will be a chance to introduce extensive and well-balanced Korean culture to Vietnamese who are familiar with Korean pop culture such as K-Pop, Korean movies, and dramas. It will also be an opportunity for Korean residents in Vietnam to listen to evolved Korean traditional music of the 21st century.
Ensemble SINAWI has six members who specialize in Gayageum – Korean traditional 12-string zither, Ajaeng – Jorean string instrument, Daegeum – large bamboo transverse flute, Jangoo – traditional drum, vocal and piano.
The group will be performing reinterpreted Korean music genres with Sinawa – a traditional Korean musical form with distinctive musical language such as an experimental spirited jazz-like jam session of Korean songs, Pansori with instrumental performance and folk performances of Sinawa genres.
Into the Time will present beauty and depth of Korean music with the sense of modern times via works Dancing Moonlight, Rhapsody of East Sea, Song of Cold Rain, Voyage of Time, Joy, Eclipse, Mt. Booyong and folk song Arirang. Vietnamese folk song Cay Truc Xinh and Am vang dat nuoc will be also performed in harmony of Vietnamese and Korean traditional musical instruments.
The group released first album, “CADENZA for SOUL” in 2011, and followed it up with “Into the Time” last year.
