The southern central province of Quang Nam has started a sub-project
funded by the World Bank (WB) which will collect, treat and dispose
wastewater in Tam Ky city.
The 21.7 million USD
sub-project, to which the WB provided 17.7 million USD, is part of the
WB-funded water supply and drainage project targeting 10 Vietnamese
provinces, which comprises of 14 sub-projects and started in October
2011.
Quang Nam province has two sub-projects, both benefit Tam Ky city.
Under the wastewater collection, treatment and drainage sub-project, a
2,200m dyke will be built along Tay Yen channel, completed with a
drainage system, five wastewater pumping stations and a treatment
station with a capacity of 8,000 cu.m. per day and night. When
completed in November, the system will help prevent flooding in the
city.
Attending the sub-project’s opening ceremony on May 17,
Victoria Kwakwa, the WB’s Country Director for Vietnam , appreciated
the province’s efficient use of aid, adding that she hopes the
construction will be soon completed to improve local people’s living
conditions. She also pledged to continue supporting the province in the
coming time.-VNA
