The “Vietnamese culinary and cultural weeks in Indonesia” programme
kicked off at Kempinsky hotel in Jakarta on May 17.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Head of Vietnam’s
Permanent Representative Mission to ASEAN Vu Dang Dung and
representatives of diplomatic corps, international organisations and
Indonesian enterprises attended the event.
Speaking
at the opening ceremony, Thuy underscored the importance of the
programme, which, he said, helps increase understanding about the land
and people of Vietnam as well as the friendship between the two
countries while promoting Vietnam’s tourism and aviation sectors.
Apart from traditional dishes such as pho, nem (spring roll) and banh
xeo (sizzling cake), the programme also features handicrafts and
traditional songs and dances staged by Vietnamese students in Indonesia.-VNA
