In Ha Tinh Province’s Huong Khe District, a two-year- old boy was killed by the whirlwind. Meanwhile, at least two were injured due to lightning and were taken to Huong Khe General Hospital for treatment. About 1,000 houses and nearly 100 hectares of rice and corn were damaged.
Total damages in Ha Tinh are estimated to total VND2 billion ($97,560).
According to the Storm Control and Flood Prevention Steering Committee of Lam Binh Province, 74 houses were damaged. Staff were sent to the affected areas to support families and assess the damages to crops and infrastructure.
In Si Ma Cai District of Lao Cai Province, four schools lost their roofs.
The district was also one of three localities in Lao Cai affected by hailstones, which destroyed 400 houses and caused damages worth billions of dong.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological, the northern region is expected to see heavy rain and thunderstorms tonight, April 26.
