Shares down on investor run

HA NOI (VNS)- Investors continued to stay away from the market this morning, driving shares to slide on both stock exchanges.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed off 2.17 per cent at 473.47 points on low trading value of more than VND350 billion (US$16.7 million).

No shares saw trades of 1 million shares with Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA) being the most active code on trades of just 770,000 shares.

Slumps in blue chips were responsible for the market downturn as most of the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity lost value, shown in a decrease of 2.17 per cent of the VN30 to 532.19 points.

Food giant Masan Group (MSN) was the biggest loser, down 4.3 per cent, while insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) edged down 3.4 per cent, property developer VinGroup (VIC) was down 2.4 per cent and dairy producer Vinamilk (VNM) finished down 1.6 per cent.

The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange also slid 0.63 per cent to 58.58 points.

Trading was sluggish as just 14.7 million shares, worth VND95.4 billion ($4.5 million) by the end of this morning.

Real estate Sacomreal (SCR) was the most active share here with 1.85 million shares changing hands, down 2.9 per cent at VND6,700 a share. – VNS
