Indonesia is hasty to investigate a Lion Air jet’s crash into the sea while landing at an airport in Bali last week.
All 108 people on board, including seven crew members, five children and one infant, survived the impact.
According
to the Indonesian Transportation Ministry, the country’s National
Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) is collecting flight data and
planning to lift the body of the downed Boeing 737 aircraft to the
beach.
The Indonesian pilot, who had more than
10,000 flying hours, and the Indian co-pilot tested negative for drugs
and alcohol in preliminary tests.
The aircraft landed successfully in two other cities before the crash, Lion Air General Affairs Director Edward Sirait.
Founded
in 1999, Lion Air has quickly become Indonesia ’s top low-cost
carrier, holding about a 45 percent market share in the country.-VNA
