VietNamNet Bridge – Being sexually refused by their wives, some men killed their babies of several months or several days old. They argued their angriness against their wives and their psychological depression for the murder but nobody can be sympathetic with them.
Nguyen Van Hung killed his son because the baby cried too much.
In the latest case which occurred on January 16, 2013, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kien, 34, in Dong Da district, Hanoi, returned home from work and discovered her husband Le Viet Long, 40, was strangling their son, Le Tung Giang, who was born in February 2012.
Shortly thereafter, Kien took the baby to the Central Children’s Hospital for emergency aid but the baby died the next day. During her time in hospital, Long attempted suicide at home with a knife but the relatives promptly detected. Through the initial investigation, Long was determined to have signs of mental illness.
Just over one month earlier, also in Hanoi, a similar case happened. Nguyen Duy Long, 31, in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, killed his 9-month-old son Nguyen Duc Huy.
Reportedly, Long suffered from depression. He was sent to a pagoda for treatment. On December 27, 2012, his wife took their son to the pagoda to visit Long. But having doubt that the baby was not his son, Long strangled the baby and threw him down to the temple’s water tank. The baby died.
If the two above fathers killed their own sons for mental disease or depression, Nguyen Van Hung, 23, in Long Hai Town, Long Dien District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, killed his son of less than 2 years old because of a crazy reason.
On the morning of March 26, 2013, Hung’s wife – Dang Thi Xuan Dao – gave their baby named Nguyen Van Hai, born in 2011, to Hung before leaving home. After the mother left, the child began crying. Hung tried to sooth the baby but he did not stop crying. Being very angery, Hung raised the baby up and threw him to the floor. When Dao came home, the baby was dead.
One day later, March 27, Dinh Van Truong, 21, in Hieu Liem Commune, Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, also killed his daughter in a brutal way. After a quarrel with his wife, Truong held his 23-day-old daughter Dinh Thi Thuy Chi into the house, locked the door and used a scissors to stab the baby to death then confessed to the police. The crazy man claimed that he killed the baby because his wife refused to have sex with him.
Tran Manh Ha murdered his son on suspicion of his wife’s infidelity.
Like Dinh Van Truong, Luong Van Trong, 21, in An Giang province, also killed his son for the same reason. After a night shift, Trong returned home. He asked to have sex with his wife, Vo Nguyen Thanh Hieu, 21, but she did not agree because she had just given birth for less than a month and was still weak.
Trong was angry. He insulted his wife in the early morning, making the baby cry. The man took a stick to beat to his wife’s head. When the woman was fainted, he held the baby and threw him outside. The baby died immediately.
Tran Manh Ha, 32, in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, cruelly killed his son because doubting that the child was the product of his wife’s infidelity. Ha murdered his son – Tran Gia Binh – then put the body in a cement bag, buried behind a church, and cemented over.
Ha declared that he had doubt that Binh was not his son. Moreover, his wife left him so he killed the child to threaten his wife.
Mr. Hoang Duong Binh, Director of the Hoang Nhan Psychological Counseling Center in Dong Da District, Hanoi, said that social ethics is always against evil in all forms. The above behaviors are so terrible, beyond tolerance of human.
Duong said looking at the outward expression, it is easy to evaluate the cause (in the above cases the causes are the anger because of baby’s crying or anger against the wife and venting the anger on the baby) but the deep-down reason stems from a mental disorder.
“In addition to losing their babies, family breakdown and facing the punishment of the law, these fathers also face their conscience,”
Duong said.
