Vietnam targets to increase the number of Indian tourist arrivals to
100,000 from the current 10,000 in the foreseeable future, said an
official.
To achieve the goal, the Vietnam National
Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has come up with a range of specific
plans, including inviting India’s top media agencies to Vietnam to
popularise its image upon coming back home and organising a tourism and
cooperation conference to discuss feasible joint projects, said Director
General of the VNAT’s International Cooperation Department Dinh Ngoc
Duc.
On November 5, India’s Jet Airways launched a daily
direct flight route linking New Delhi, Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City.
It also plans for new flight services to and from the capital city of
Hanoi, and other cities of ASEAN member states, Sydney and Melbourne.
Direct flights to India are to be launched by the
national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and the low-cost Vietjet Air.
According to the VNAT, 2.5 million Indians have visited ASEAN
countries each year, with a majority coming to Vietnam for business
purpose.-VNA
