The ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee (AJJCC) has freshly
held its eighth meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, to review the two sides’
cooperation and work out orientations for their future affiliation.
ASEAN and Japanese officials discussed preparations for the 17th
ASEAN-Japan Summit, slated for November 12 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
They examined the implementation of the Vision Statement on
ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and its Implementation Plan
adopted during the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit in December 2013.
The
AJJCC stressed the importance of ensuring the effective implementation
of the vision statement and of the remaining measures under the Plan of
Action in 2011-2015.
In this regard, an executive report on the
progress of implementation of the two plans will be submitted to the
17th ASEAN-Japan Summit. It is used to monitor and evaluate the two
sides’ cooperation.
Prior to the meeting, the AJJCC’s Working
Group met to review the status of cooperation projects under the
ASEAN-Japan Integration Fund (JAIF). The group discussed the papers on
Operational Procedures of JAIF as prepared by Japan with the aim to
enhance the effective operation and utilisation of the Fund.-VNA
