VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Transport has asked the Vietnam Railway Administration to replace the entire managerial staff of the rail project management unit, saying that they were irresponsible and had caused project delays.
According to Dan Tri newspaper, officials of the railway project management unit dodged and passed the buck to each other. At a meeting with the Transport Ministry’s representatives, when the unit’s director – Mr. Doan Tang Ong – was asked why he did not make a decision to solve problems related to the railway project, he replied that he did not want to assume the directorship but he was pushed into the position.
Thus, the Ministry of Transport has asked the Vietnam Railways Administration to replace the director and the entire employees of the railway project management unit.
Mr. Ong was appointed Director of the railway project management board in early May, replacing Mr. Tran Van Luc who was suspended to serve the investigation of the bribery allegation related to the Hanoi urban railway project No.1.
The Transport Ministry has also asked to dismiss many other key officials of the Vietnam Railway Corporation. Earlier, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang dismissed the General Director of the Vietnam Railway Corporation – Mr. Nguyen Dat Tuong.
