Southern An Giang province is willing to cooperate with Mozambican
localities in growing rice, Deputy Chairman the provincial People’s
Committee Nguyen Van Nung.
The local authorities on
March 12 welcomed visiting Mozambican Minister of Agriculture Jose
Pacheco and his entourage who wanted to learn more about on-the-spot
agricultural development.
Nung introduced to the minister his
locality’s capacity of producing rice breeds to cater for its farmers
and also for others in the Mekong delta region.
In reply, Minister Pacheco said his country is paying special attention to crop cultivation, especially wet rice farming.
He
expressed his hope of receiving An Giang’s assistance as soon as
possible so as Mozambique’s localities can start growing wet rice
with the Vietnamese locality’s current farming techniques.
Earlier, the Mozambique delegation has paid a working visit to
Hanoi to discuss and exchange experience in the field of agriculture
and food security.-VNA
