HÀ NỘI — The central province of Kon Tum will host a tourism forum between April 21 and 24.
According to Hà Văn Siêu, Deputy General Director of Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism, tourism activities have gradually increased with more and more tourists travelling inside the country and from other countries.
“Regional tourism development is very important,” he said. “The Central Highlands possesses rich potential but has not been awakened yet.
“The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and local authorities of Kon Tum Province, as well as the Việt Nam Tourism Association, will host the event,” he said.
Nguyễn Văn Bình, Director of Kon Tum’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, said the forum will focus on the potential and prospects to develop local tourism; solutions to build new products, promoting tourism and investment, enhancing connections and luring more visitors to the area.
“From experts’ and enterprises’ opinions, local authorities will complete tourism products, especially community and ecological tours to attract visitors,” Bình said.
During the schedule, the organisers will announce the plan to develop tourism in the triangle area of Cambodia – Laos – Việt Nam in 2021-2025.
The logo and slogan for the province’s tourism will be officially announced together with signing ceremonies between Kon Tum and other localities, associations and investors.
The forum is in the framework of a series of events during April, with the highlights including a certificate receiving ceremony for Đăk Tô Victory in 1967 and historical Peak 875 in Sa Loong Commune, Ngọc Hồi District; a scientific workshop to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Đăk Tô – Tân Cảnh Victory; farm tours for investors and media; and linking handicraft workshops with national standard OCOP certificates. The events will gather 250 travel agencies from around the country.
An exhibition featuring local culture and tourism products will be organised together with a Ngọc Linh Gingseng Market and a tourism PR event for Tu Mơ Rông District.
Lê Tuấn Anh, Chairman of the Tourism Development Support Fund, said the fund will assist the province to build typical tourism products, and connect with other localities in and outside the country.
“We will support the province to train and re-train tourism staff through short courses that suit their demand,” he said.
Bình, Director of Kon Tum’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, said the province hopes to develop sustainable tourism cooperation with south-central provinces and travel agencies throughout the country. VNS
