HCM CITY — Around 200 Vietnamese companies are showcasing their products at the Tôn vinh hàng Việt (Honouring Vietnamese goods) fair in HCM City from July 29 to August 2.

The fair, being held at the Tân Bình District Sports and Culture Centre, has more than 300 booths displaying farm produce, regional specialities, textile and garment products, footwear, electronic and electrical products, household utensils, processed foods, beverages, handicrafts, furniture, cosmetics, and others.

It has dedicated areas for displaying the city’s key industrial products and those of other cities and provinces.

There will be a food festival featuring traditional dishes from various parts of the country, and a ‘Festival of Saigon Co.op supermarket system and strong brands’ held by Saigon Co.op.

A new feature this year is a business-matching programme to connect local producers with retailers and distributors in the city.

Many discounts are on offer at the fair.

Chu Tiến Dũng, chairman of the HCM City Union of Business Associations, one of the fair’s organisers, said the exhibition is an annual activity that seeks to help businesses promote consumption of their quality products and find business partners.

Nguyễn Phương Đông, deputy director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said Vietnamese businesses need to improve the competitiveness of their products.

To do this and offer consumers more choices, they need to constantly innovate, build brands and develop more unique products, he added. — VNS
