HÀ NỘI — The plans to decorate Tràng Tiền, Tràng Thi and Ngô Quyền streets in Hà Nội, welcoming the Lunar New Year and celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, are among winners of the city decoration contest 2019.

The organisation board of the contest granted one first prize to Vietshow Media Company, in addition to two second prizes, four third prizes and five consolation prizes at the award ceremony that was held on January 16.

In a year, the organisation board received 86 entries and selected the best 12 projects among them which will be used to decorate various streets in Hà Nội.

According to Trần Khánh Chương, the president of the jury, the decorations on streets in Hà Nội had improved since the launch of the contest by Hà Nội’s Department of Culture and Sports, receiving many compliments from the public.

“Instead of repeating the decorations from previous years, Hà Nội now has experience in street decorations and lighting, particularly at night. The winning works have become more advanced and contributed to beautifying the capital,” he said.

According to the evaluation of the art council, the contest gathered the talent, intelligence and experience of many artists from various businesses, as well as students from specialised universities.

The decorations are designed in more diverse forms that utilise advanced technology – the lights can gently move but do not affect drivers.

The winning works will be used to decorate Tràng Tiền, Tràng Thi, Ngô Quyền, Phan Chu Trinh, Hàng Bài, Bà Triệu, Lý Thường Kiệt, Điện Biên Phủ, Phan Đình Phùng and Thanh Niên streets, while four clusters of decorations will be placed at the junctions in front of the buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Bank, on August Revolution Square and May 1 Square in addition to an archway on Võ Chí Công Street.

Also, on the same day, the organisation board launched a contest to decorate Hà Nội in 2020. — VNS
