Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Ma Mingqiang and two
groups from China Central Television (CCTV) will visit Indonesia
this week to increase cooperation and good relations between the two
countries.
During his week-long stay in Indonesia, Ma Mingqiang is scheduled to meet with Indonesian Government officials.
Along with two CCTV groups, the ACC Secretary General will visit
Yogyakarta in central Java and Medan in North Sumatra to make a
documentary film on local foods and tourist destinations in the country.
The film will later be screened on CCTV, at home and abroad, lasting for about 70 minutes.
Ma Mingqiang said the ACC focuses on improving relations and
cooperation between China and ASEAN member countries, especially in
investment, trade, education, culture and tourism.
China is encouraging its investors to invest in ASEAN and Chinese people to travel to the region, he said.
The ACC has also arranged for Chinese businessmen and journalists to
visit ASEAN member countries while taking ASE AN officials to China,
he added.
According to Ma Mingqiang, the ACC has promoted
Cambodian tourism through broadcasting programmes on CCTN network for
five to seven minutes.
Thanks to such programmes, the number
of Chinese arrivals to Cambodia last year rose to 1.8 million from
only about 1.2 million recorded in the previous year.
Following Cambodia and Indonesia, similar plans will be implemented in other ASEAN member countries, he said.-VNA
