HCM CITY —  Suboi, Việt Nam’s queen of hip hop, on Thursday introduced her new single N-Sao? on Beats 1, a music radio station owned and operated by Apple Inc.

N-Sao? is a co-production of Suboi and two American producers  from the US. Its lyrics describe daily life in HCM City.

Its world premiere on Beats 1 was hosted by Zane Lowe, a New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, record producer, and television presenter.

Lowe has worked for BBC Radio and MTV Rocks and now hosts his own show on Beats 1, which broadcasts to over 100 countries.

The show features interviews and music by the world’s best DJs and famous artists such as Drake, Taylor Swift and Adele.

In the interview with Lowe, Suboi talked about the new movement coming out of the Southeast Asian region.

N-Sao? is available on social media websites in Việt Nam such as Zing Mp3, nhaccuatui, and keng.

The song can also be found on streaming music services like Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify and Soundcloud.

Suboi told local media that N-Sao? marked her comeback after the success of single Đời (Life) in 2006. It is also part of her new music project for this year and 2019.

Suboi was born as Hàng Lâm Trang Anh in HCM City in 1990. She was introduced to hip hop at 14 years old and eventually became a well-known rapper in the underground scene.

Suboi, who raps in both Vietnamese and English, said her music is influenced by American rappers Eminem and Snoop Dogg.

Suboi’s name became more widely known after performing two songs, Xin Hãy Tha Thứ  (My Apology) and Girl’s Night, with pop star Hồ Ngọc Hà in 2009.

She released her debut album Walk in 2010.

In 2012, she founded her own company, Suboi Entertainment, and released her second album Run in 2014.

Suboi was invited to perform at CAAMFest and the South by South West festival in the US, and the Tornado Music Festival in Japan.

In 2016, Suboi rapped for former US President Barack Obama at a meeting with 800 young people at the Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative held in HCM City during his visit to Việt Nam. — VNS
