Ho Chi Minh City hopes to establish multifaceted cooperation relations
with Germany’s capital city of Berlin, particularly in solving
urban problems like environmental pollution, waste water treatment,
education and job creation.
Chairman of the HCM
City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan expressed the wish at his meeting
with Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit October 30.
Quan
said the German delegation’s visit will help strengthen ties between
the two countries as well as between HCM City and Berlin.
He added that a number of projects in his city are
receiving assistance from Germany, including a metro construction
project and the German House project.
For his part,
Klaus Wowereit affirmed Berlin’s interest in cooperation with major
cities, including those in Vietnam.
The German
guest voiced his pleasure at the smooth implementation of the country’s
projects in HCM City, especially infrastructure ones, adding that
Berlin has strength in transportation development, and manufacturing
railway carriages and traffic control systems.
He
also briefed the host on outcomes of an economic conference between the
two cities on the same day, saying that it was a success.-VNA
