HA NOI (VNS)– Various images featuring Japan’s Fukushima Province after the earthquake and tsunami disaster of 2011 will be displayed at the Fukushima Festival in downtown Ha Noi this weekend.
The exhibition will also focus on the close relationship between the province and the Vietnamese people, in line with the event’s theme, “Friendship between Viet Nam and Fukushima.”
The festival will also show off traditional sake wine from the province, ancient Japanese tea culture and Kimono fashion shows.
According to the organisers, the festival is being held to show the Vietnamese people the sincere thanks of the residents of Fukushima for both the spiritual and material support offered after the disaster.
It is hoped the friendship between the province and Vietnamese people can be further enhanced to help the Japanese locality slowly regain its strength again.
The free festival is open between 10am and 4pm, on November 2 and 3 at the Vietnamese Women Museum, 36 Ly Thuong Kiet Street.
The event, which is co-organised by the Japanese embassy and the Fukushima-Viet Nam Friendship Association, is among a series of cultural activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of Viet Nam – Japan diplomatic ties (1973-2013). – VNS
