Liem drew with the Argentinean player after 42 moves. Earlier, Liêm had two wins and four draws.
According to 2700chess.com, Liêm, a former world blitz champion, dropped to World No 26 with Elo rating of 2.726 as he drew with players in the tournament with Elo ratings lower than him.
With five draws in England’s event, the HCM City-born player has deducted 10.8 steps of Elo.
Liem aims to improve his Elo rating in the next three matches.
The Gibraltar Chess Festival saw the participation of 12 players with Elo rating of 2.700 onwards, including No 6 seed Liem.
